I just found out today my grandfather had passed away a few days ago.  He lived to 92 I believe.  It saddens me that I didn’t get to see him for the past 13 years.  I really wish my trip to Taiwan with my mom wouldn’t have been cancelled.  We were suppose to fly back to Taiwan on 10/30 for two weeks.  I could have gotten to see him before he left us.  I know this is life but it’s never easy when a family member passes away.  I just hope my mom will be ok.

It’s that time of the year when the weather is changing.  It seems like my mood changes along with the weather.  I’m happy when it’s warm and get depressed as the weather gets cooler.  You think i have the S.A.D syndrome?  Actually it’s probably a combination of girl issues along with the weather changing.  Girls are evil.  I don’t know how to fix my issues so I think i’m gonna try to see a shrink.  I hope my work health benefits covers it.

I don’t usually listen to Japanese songs, but this one ish really good.

Another Year

Posted in Uncategorized on October 14, 2009 by aznjavi

I can’t believe another year has gone by right before my eyes.  I am officially 32 years old today!!  I’m not the type that gets scared about aging.  I mean I barely look 21 I think and most of the guys don’t need to worry about the biological clock.  I just want to say thank you mom and dad for passing down the great genes.  No white hair yet either…knock on wood.  I had a great year and I’m looking forward to what 2010 has in plan for me.

Check out this orchestrated version of Down by Jay Sean.  It’s a beautiful version orchestrated by this dude named Aakash Gandhi.  Pretty chilled stuff.  Also, here is the latest by John Mayer.  It’s called Who Says.  Another chilling jam.

Humm, what else is new?  Our softball team finished the season with a respectable record of 3-4.  This is pretty good considering we started the season 0-4.  We have high expectations for next season.  Next sport is volleyball.  I doubt I will play though.  I’m not that good, but I will play if they need players.  Winter sport is basketball and I’m definitely in for that.  Although our team will probably blow since it has to be people within our group.  Lets just say our group doesn’t have too much athleticism.  I’m gonna be the A.I for our team.  Shoot first and pass if I really need to.

I’ve been missing in action this past few weeks.  It’s been a very busy Summer for me and hopefully I’ll be able to write some stuff on a more consistent basis.

Looking for a job?  Here is a great idea.  How about starting up your own food truck?  Check out this Kogi websiteEverything on the menu looks unbelievably delicious.  Kogi trucks first started in SoCal and I believe they will soon start up couple trucks out here in NYC.  The people who started this Kogi stuff only started last year.  It took about a year to allow them to make enough profit to expand to the east coast.  They have 3 trucks that’s at three different locations operating from Tuesday to Saturday (Sun & Mon off).  They have a set schedule where the trucks will be stationed each day and they only work 3 hours per day.  Not a bad deal in my opinion.  Each truck sells out on a daily basis with the quantities they prepared for.  This meaning they are profiting on a fixed income plan for now.  I have no idea how much each truck profits, but assuming each profits just say $500 per day.  $500X3Trucks=$1500X4days=$6000per week and you do the rest of the math.  Not bad for working 4 days for 3 hours a day.  The concept is easy, but the key to success starts with the chef.  People will come if the food is good.  That is and will always be the key to a successful business.  Who wants in?

This site will be very useful for you if you live in JC or Hoboken.  I discovered Central Avenue Wines last week and I found out they make deliveries to your doorstep for free if you live in JC or Hoboken.  I no longer have to spend $12 for a 12-pack of Coors light or $12 for a 6-pack of import beers.  The liquor prices around where I live is absolutely ridiculous.  I can now get my beer much cheaper and all I have to do is carry it from my front door steps.  How convenient!!

I can’t wait for the basketball season to start.  I just purchased 5 sets of Knicks tickets.  Knicks offense will be a lot of fun to watch just like last season.  The run and gun style will make Knicks one of the highest scoring teams in the NBA this season.  I don’t have much care for defense.  I’ll be happy if either the Knicks or the Nets can make it to the playoffs.  I highly doubt the Nets will do much this season.  They just don’t have the depth in their lineup and they lost VC.  Knicks might make the playoffs this season.  They will probably be at the bottom if they somehow make it, but it’ll be nice watching a Knicks playoff game at MSG.  My tickets include Phoenix, Golden State, Portland, Oklahoma City, and the Clippers.

If you purchased some stocks about 8-12 months ago, you are probably a very happy camper right now.  Especially if you bought some Apple and Google.  Apple was at a low point of 82.58 once and now it’s at 184.  Google was at once 262 and it rebounded to 494.  All within a matter of 8 months.  I mean not everybody will have that kind of money to invest at a time when the economy was struggling, but just imagine if you had the guts to lay some money down on something.  Even my own company Barclays Capital rebounded from a once low 3.07 to 23.  I’m hitting myself for not believing my own firm.  In any case, I do have some GLD that I purchased at 83.  It’s now starting to climb again and I’m hoping it gets to 150 by end of next year.  It’s at 97 right now.  As we all know GLD  is very volatile and requires close attention.  Nope!!  I was not worried one bit.  I knew gold would never dip below a certain point.  It’s the backup/last resort to our paper currency.  Our economy is still couple years away from fully recovering.  The progress maybe starting, but it will require time to get back to how we were once.  GLD was at its lowest point back in 2005 and that was also where the economy was steady and the market was hot.  Everybody wanted to get into finance then.  People will again want to get back into finance within the next 5 years.  It’s just the way things work.  Everybody is always looking for that goldmine stock.  I believe that stock will be MGM.  MGM was at 96 almost exactly 2 years ago.  With the economy crisis, people thought MGM would go down.  It hit a low 1.89 in March of this year and slowly rebounded.  It’s been hovering around 12.50-13.50 recently.  This is still very cheap for purchase.  The casino business goes obviously goes with the flow of our economy.  If you ever been to Vegas, then you would know more than half of the strip is owned by MGM.  MGM clearing is the powerhouse in the casino industry and it will only rebound from now on.  Buy it now and keep it for 5 years.  It should be above 50 in couple of years and i’m hoping it’ll get back up to 90 within 5 years.  It’s my long term investment.  Buy some yourself people!!  Have no fear.  My motto is “Scare money don’t make money”.

Busy Month

Posted in Uncategorized on August 31, 2009 by aznjavi

August has been a fun, eventful, and a tiring month.  Haven’t been home much on the weekends.  I have been away to Baltimore one weekend and Vegas on another weekend.  Not to mention all the partying done during the week nights after work.  We also started our corporate softball league in Aug.  We are 0-3 right now, but we are optimistic that we will win one game before the season is over.  We have 4 more games so I got my fingers crossed.  Honestly, I really don’t think we’ll win one.  We really really really suck!!  Win or lose, we always have a great time hanging out after the games in Hoboken.  I did lose my wallet in Hoboken so that’s the only bad thing that’s happened for me this Summer.  My $400 wallet!!  My boy Victor is getting married this weekend so we are taking him out Thursday night for a small bachelor party nyc style.  Good thing I was able to take this Friday off.  We are also going to the Rutgers season opening game on Labor Day.  It’s gonna be a good game.  We are playing Cincinnati.  Another eventful weekend coming ups.  Our pool will be closing on Labor Day too.  I’m glad in a way cuz people are so damn loud, but I will miss chilling by the pool myself.  I will be back with more stuff next week when things slow down for me.  Enjoy your weekend~

Girls Girls Girls

Posted in Uncategorized on August 9, 2009 by aznjavi

I haven’t partied in Hoboken for awhile now.  I have always preferred heading into the city as to Hoboken.  Well, I think I will be hanging out in Hoboken more often after what i experienced last night.  We were at this bar called Mulligan’s for a charity event and I have say I was impressed.  The girl ratio was about 7-3.  Girls girls girls….Mostly white girls since Mulligan’s is an Irish bar and Hoboken is known as a white town (I don’t discriminate…I love all girls =).  It’s the place to be if you are a single guy.  I’m not sure if it was just that bar, but I have a feeling there are more single girls living in Hoboken than guys.  Yes!!

We got our @ss pounded in our first corp league softball game on Thursday.  We lost 14-4.  Every team is required to have two girls on the team and this sucks because our group is 90% guys.  One of the girls on our team has never played softball before and has no idea what the rules are.  The other girl is a pretty good athlete, but she can’t really hit.  Our girls were big time liabilities and 3 of the guys on the team also never played softball before.  There is no way we can win a game if 5 of the players on our team don’t know how to play.  I know it’s all for fun, but it’s embarrassing having the guys strike out multiple times in a softball game.  I batted lead off and went 2 for 3.  Had a triple and a single.  I played 3rd base and it felt good making some plays out there.  I had the hot corner and I was glad I made no errors.  Next game is this coming Thursday and I have a feeling we’ll get pounded again.  Win or lose, we all get together in Hoboken after the game for drinks.  It’s good times and it will be sweeter if we find a way to win the next game.

This has been a busy busy month so far and it will only get busier for me this next couple weeks.  Suppose to head down to Baltimore next weekend to feast on some crabs and catch an Orioles game.  The following weekend is Vegas weekend with the boys and that could potentially get crazy and become dangerous.  Vegas+Five Single Guys+Booz=Trouble

Time to share some videos with you….

New York, I Love You Trailer (Great casting for this movie and the best part about this movie is that it’s about life in NYC)

The Blind Side is based on a true story of Michael Oher.  He was drafted in this years NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens. A very moving story.

This is the big one I’m waiting for.  Thundercats the movie.  Although it’s not due out until sometime next year.  Van Diesel, Brad Pitt, and Hugh Jackman star in it and it will def be a huge hit.

Some of you may know I’m fascinated with vampires.  Check out this trailer.

This looks fun.  Tommy showed me this today and I’m in for next year.

Disappointed

I’m still hurting after losing our championship game last night.  We lost by 5 points and the game could have gone either way.  We were up by 3 points at half time and came out flat in the second half.  Regardless of how badly we played in the second half, we were only down by 1 point with 22 seconds left.  Obviously we missed and had to foul.  We were hoping they miss some free throws, but they were pretty clutch down the stretch.  We were down by 3 with 11 seconds left and again we missed.  We fouled again and they made both free throws again.  That’s how close the game was.  It hurts a lot getting so far and losing by just one possession.  We are taking the Summer off and coming back for the Fall season.  Summer is only 6 games and many of us have vacations coming up.  It’s not worth paying the league fee ($120)and not be able to play 1/3 of the games for the most of us.

On another note, my employer barcap has sponsored us for our softball team.  Our first game is tomorrow and i’m looking forward to kick some @ss.  I’m penciled in at 3rd base and the lead off spot.  I had one inside the park HR last year and i’m going for 3 this season.

Eli Manning will be the highest paid player in NFL????  Are you fking kidding me?  Don’t get me wrong, I like Eli a lot but I don’t think he deserves that kind of money.  Not even Brady and Peyton Manning gets that kinda money.  Eli lives in  Hoboken right now and I’m taking a wild guess that he will buy himself a nice 100 bedroom mansion somewhere around here.

Laura Ling and Euna Lee have been released from the North Koreans.  Bill Clinton looked like a Hero just going there to speak to Kim Jong-il.  The North Koreans were going to release them anyways.  They just wanted the Americans to suck up to them and apologize in our deepest sorrow and showing them sympathy for what Laura and Euna did.  I guess in the end it’s all about getting them back home safely.  Isn’t Lisa Ling much better looking than Laura?  Laura’s face look like she ran into a wall growing up.  I ran into a poll one time myself and I think I broke my nose and I didn’t realize it.  Yeah, i’m pretty fking stupid.    If my nose looks funny next time you see me, you know why….

Championship Game

Posted in Uncategorized on July 31, 2009 by aznjavi

We won our second round of the playoffs tonight.  Just like the Vegas line, we won by 6 points.  We should have won by 9 points if it wasn’t for a stupid miracle half court bank shot with 8 seconds left to the game.  I knew we were the better team going into this game and we proved it from start to finish.  We all played with confidence and we were bombing away from the 3-point land throughout the game.  We made 11 threes in the first half alone.  We lead by 14 points at half time  and Tequila Shooters made a run in the second half and got within 4 points!!  We then buckled down on the defense and made few clutch plays in the last minute of the game.  It was a beautiful game.  Both teams had great players making plays and it all came down to the defense.  The better team held up in the end and proved we are no fluke.  Championship game is next Tuesday night at the prime time spot in Hoboken.  9pm is tip off.  Stop by if you want to see us celebrate by 10pm.  It’s our destiny this season and we won’t be satisfied with anything less than the title and the 6 foot trophy!!  We also get one hour of open bar at a date of our choice in Hoboken.  Feels good to be good at something.  Happy Friday all!!  Beer GARDEN after work tomorrow so stop by for some Oktoberfest beer.  See you guys tomorrow night.  I’m outz for now~

Big Poppy is the next name that’s been linked to the 03’testing for steroids.  It’s funny how names slowly just keeps popping up in the news.  I mean we already had an idea he was juiced.  Just look at his stats for this season and compare it against his earlier seasons.  It’s not even comparable.  Another one bites the dust.  Who’s next?

We won our first playoff game tonight.  The game was not even close.  We won by 20 points.  Our best player went off  for 30+ points tonight.  We won’t have him the next game or the finals if we get there.  He is getting married over the weekend so I guess we’ll have to excuse him.  That will hurt our chances winning it all, BUT I think we can still pull it out (That’s what she said).  Next game is in two days.  Thursday night we’ll play the 2nd seeded team Tequila Shooters.  They are favored in this game only because they have a better seeding, but we should still win this game.  I predict a 8 point win.  We’ll see how close my prediction is.  I’m serious when I tell you guys the spread for each game.  They have spreads for our games.  Bet on us if you want to make some money!!  Gosh, it’s only Wednesday coming up.  Lets get through hump day fast!!  Got a tough decision to make for this Friday.  Beer Garden or AC?  I will make my decision when I wake up on Friday morning.  I’m outz for now~

Rained Out

Posted in Uncategorized on July 24, 2009 by aznjavi

It figures.  The moment we got to the gym tonight is the moment we find out that our game has been cancelled.  What a waste of time.  I could have gone to happy hour with some colleagues if I knew ahead of time it was to be cancelled.  This is the reason I have time right now blogging.  I’m home early with nothing to do.  No sports and no good shows on TV right now.  They have Big Brother season 11 on, but I’ve watched way too many seasons so I won’t watch it anymore.  It gets boring after 11 years you know?  I have my TV on the IFC channel and the movie From Hell is on.  I’ve watch From Hell in the theaters when it first came out back in 2001.  Johnny Depp and Heather Graham are in the movie.  Johnny Depp has become one of my favorite actors recently.  Just saw him in Public Enemy last weekend and he played bad ass mobster.  He was pretty good.

I just had a discussion with my buddy Joe about the death of Arturo Gatti.  His wife Amanda has been accused of murdering him in a hotel in Brazil.  All evidence show that she murdered Arturo, but for some reason the judge handling this case thinks of otherwise.  I won’t be surprised if she is granted bail in a few days.  The defense is arguing that Arturo committed suicide.  If you have been following this case, you would know that Arturo was killed by strangulation.  How can oneself strangulate him or herself?  Unless you hang yourself.  His wife Amanda is a nice lady from what I heard.  One of the guys on my basketball team used to live in the same complex/apartment with Arturo so he met both him and his wife.  He said Amanda was the nicest girl you can ever meet.  He also said she was one of the hottest girl he’s ever met too.  She was only about 5’2 and weighs like 100lbs and she had double D’s.  Don’t ask me how he knew how big she was.  I guess is a sick sense that some guys just have…haha…Unfortunately, I think Amanda will spend the rest of her life in jail.  She doesn’t have much of an alibi.

Game Night!!

Posted in Uncategorized on July 23, 2009 by aznjavi

Our first playoff game is tonight.  We are the 3rd seeded team and we are playing the 6th seeded team.  We shouldn’t have any problems tonight, but we’re taking nothing for granted.  The lines are out in Vegas and we are favored by 10 points.  Game time 7:30.

A lot of good news about the economy today.  Today the Dow Jones surpassed the 9,000 mark since Jan.  This signifies how we are slowly coming out of the recession.  Even S&P 500 advanced to the highest level since last November today.  EBAY also reported a 7.5% increase on profit this last quarter.  This shows how people are starting to spend more money online and in general.  Even Ford jumped 7.7%.  You would think all American motor companys are pretty much dead.  Kudos to Ford.  No need to tell you how Apple has been doing.  They continue to surge in profits.  Apple (AAPL) is at 157.91 right now and it will rise to 200 at year end.  You made yourself a great purchase if you bought Apple shares at 100 or below.  Most of the finance/investment firms have been doing well recently.  Wall Street is slowly making a come back at the same time.  Goldman Sachs remain as the top finance firm.  They rebounded the best out of everybody.  They were able to pay back the 11.1 (1.1 interest) billion they had borrowed from the government yesterday and they also reported a record in profit for this last quarter.  It’s amazing just thinking about it.  They were able to produce a record setting quarter at a time like this.  It’s unreal.  It’s good to be a GS employee.  Credit Suisse just came out with their 2nd quarter profit earnings.  They rose a whopping 29%!!  Wow!!  I’m guessing Merrill Lynch, UBS, and Barclays will all have whopping profit earnings when it comes out.  Crazy!!  Maybe I’ll get a semi good bonus this year.  I won’t hold me breath though.  These mofos only take care of the senior people here.

Been pretty busy recently so I haven’t had much time to blog.  Been too busy hanging out at the new beer garden here in JC.  Love that place!!

MJ

Posted in Uncategorized on July 8, 2009 by aznjavi

Did you guys catch any parts of Michael Jackson’s memorial on tv today?  I still can’t believe how people are making this such a huge deal.  Don’t get me wrong, I love MJ’s music and I really feel bad the fact that he died…but don’t people have better things to worry about?  Like their own family, their own life, and their own health?  I guess I’m a selfish bastard.  In any case, I was able to catch some parts of it at work today and I did get a little teary eyed when MJ’s eldest daughter got up to the mic and made a quick speech.  She could barely finish one sentence and just started to cry.  I felt for her.  That was true sincerity.  RIP MJ.

What’s the real story behind Steve McNair’s death?  Did the girl he was dating kill him and then killed herself?  The story is shaping up to be that way.  It’s as buzzard of a story as it can get.  This will end up being another unsolved suicide mystery.  We live in a crazy world.

Had another league game tonight in Hoboken.  We won 59-53.  We are now in 3rd place with one more regular season game on Thursday night.  We are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs now.  Top 4 teams makes playoffs and our record is now 5-2.  Not sure if we are good enough to take this whole thing, but this is the season if we are to win it all.  We have our best put together team in 5 years and I think it’s about time we won a championship.  We shall see what happens next week in the playoffs.

Joey Chestnut beat Takeru Kobayashi again this year in the Nathan’s hot dog eating contest. Kobayashi had 64.5 hot dogs in 10 minutes while Chestnut ate 68 hot dogs to defend his title.  Are they really going to reach 70 hot dogs next year?  It’s pretty sick to even think about eating that many hot dogs.  I think I can eat like 8 or 10 at the most.  I would definitely throw up afterwards.  Is Kobayashi on juice?  The dude is jacked like the way Carrot Top is and you know Carrot Top  juiced.  I guess Kobayashi is the Asian version of Carrot Top.  Skinny once and now jacked like Hulk.

This is funny stuff.   Courtesy by Dazhi.

Finally

Transformers 2 will finally open in the theaters tomorrow at 12:01am.  I’ve been waiting for this day for awhile now.  Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get the IMAX tickets in time.  Everything is sold out until Sunday.  So i’ll be watching it at the Lincoln Square IMAX theater Sunday afternoon.  Did you know that most of the IMAX theaters holds a capacity of 850 people?  That’s a lot of people in one theater and a lot of money made in one showing.  Senior citizens and students cost $15 per ticket while adult tickets cost 18.50.  If you purchased the tickets in advance on-line (Like I did), you also get charged with a $2 convenience fee per ticket.  I’m assuming this is how sites like Fandango is staying away from bankruptcy by ripping people off like this.

Want to take a guess of the two biggest stories from this past week are?  Iranians protesting is obviously the news that’s been covered 24/7 by the world at this time.  The U.S should try to stay out of this in my opinion.  We don’t need to be heroes anymore after what Bush put this country through with Iraq.  I know the scenario is quite different from Iraq, but the point is just to keep distance and not get our soldiers involved.  The other big news is the shocking announcement made by Jon & Kate Gosselin.  Yeah, they are getting divorced!!  Yeah seriously, who the fk cares!!  I don’t understand why the public is so fascinated with them.  I know I know, everybody feels bad for the kids and I do too somewhat.  I would definitely want my kids growing up in a non-dysfunctional family.  Unfortunately this world is not perfect.  I think those kids will be fine if Jon keeps his head straight and not end up pulling the disappearing act after the divorce.  He  is the main problem here and I think most of you will agree with me.  He really acts like he just don’t give the fk about Kate and the children.  He seems to only cares about his personal life.  The douchbag is a joke and a immature baby.   He really needs to grow up fast so he can be there for the children.  Good luck to the Gosselins.  Just saw this on Jimmy Fallon show.  John Mccain is filing for a divorce supposedly.  I have no idea why since he is already 74 years old.  His wife is so much younger so I’m sure she cheated.  We’ll see.

Summer officially kicked in couple days ago.  Lets hope the weather will syncs with Summer soon.  This weather in June has been unreal.  I have never seen so many days of rain in my life.  Ok I lied, Taiwan was pretty bad too.  Over or under?  The chance of this Summer reaching 96 degrees?  I would have to say under with the mild temperatures we’ve had.  It’s hard enough to reach 100 degrees here so that’s why I just said 96 degrees.  We shall see.

I’m going to pick up my iPhone 3G S tomorrow night at the 5th Ave Apple store.  I know I had mentioned that I had ordered it on-line last week.  Well, I actually got an email from Apple today telling me that the order I had placed had been cancelled.  They didn’t provide me a reason so I had to call myself to find out the reason.  It turns out AT&T had cancelled the order since I haven’t paid my phone bill for the last month.  AT&T actually apologized to me saying that the order shouldn’t have gone through since the system was suppose to prompt me to pay my balance first before I’m able to upgrade.  I started complaining that this little system glitch caused me a few days without having a cell phone.  I guess if you complain enough, most of the time you will get something out of it.  AT&T will give me a 20% discount towards my next month’s phone bill.  I guess it’s not much, but it’s something.  Moral of the story is to bitch and complain at every opportunity you get.  The saying ‘Customer is always right‘ goes a long way.  Bitch more!!

Lets hope the weather holds up this Saturday night.  I’m going to the Sub-Way series at the new Citi Field and I’m pretty excited.  My Mets don’t look too hot right now with everybody injured.  They looks like a triple A team out there.  Whatevers, I will be supporting them through the good and the bad.  I’m looking forward to pigging out there since I heard the food is really good.  Below is the list of them.  Shake Shack will be my top choice.  The best part of it all is that the price is now cheaper than what it used to be.  I mean it does make sense.  Would you rather have people limit themselves from eating at the stadium or would you rather sell more with a cheaper/reasonable price?  This obviously was part of the strategy.  Lets hope the beer price is down too cuz i’ll be drinking more than I eat.

1. Deep to right! It’s outta here!
Meaning that juicy, smoky pulled-pork sandwich on a brioche bun ($9) at Blue Smoke, in essential “Taste of the City” section beyond the rightfield seats. Wash it down with Brooklyn Brewery’s Blue Smoke Original Ale ($7.50). For the season opener, expect to find more choices. Look for the skyline silhouette that crowned Shea’s scoreboard.
2. Lined to right-center … big hit
Shake Shack, the summertime magnet in Manhattan’s Madison Square Park and at a Columbus Avenue offspring, adjoins Blue Smoke, in restaurateur Danny Meyer’s snappy, slick double play. And the line is still long. Have your burger here. The Shake Shack single ($5.75) is the ballpark’s best. So’s the “New York dog” ($5) a hot dog worthy of Rickey Henderson. No shakes ($6.50) or frozen custard ($5.25) yesterday – reason to return.
3. Hot corner
El Verano Taqueria, also in right, delivers with sharp grilled chicken and grilled beef tacos ($7.25). Batting next: Box Fries, a clutch hitter for fresh-cut, crisp fries ($6 small; $7.50 big), hotter than David Wright on a streak. Try them with a “frites sauce” ($1), either house mayo or bleu cheese.
4. Strikeout
Grilled sausages come out of leftfield, hot or sweet ($7.25), from the cleverly named Grilled Sausage stands. The hot goes down swinging; the sweet, looking, each under a pitcher’s mound of peppers and onions. More smoke than Johan Santana‘s fastball, and an aroma more bitter than the last two Septembers. Sideshow: Watch the guy clean the blackened grill with a bucket of ice cubes before scraping away residue.
5. No salary cap
Down the leftfield line, behind windows-on-the-field, Acela speeds in – a five-tier, deluxe dining room with cushy seats that make Shea’s Diamond Club seem like cubic zirconia. Yesterday, it hosted a St. John’s party, with good ballpark food. Coming up: an American grill, backed up by soups and salads, artisanal; cheeses, and a wood-burning oven. Tab: two-course meals in the $40-$55 range.
6. Forum of the ’09 Caesar’s
Caesar’s Club has lounge seating and tables for a safety-squeeze Nathan’s hot dog ($5.75) and a groundout, dry “Brooklyn burger” ($8.75). Nathan’s fries ($4.75) are like a sacrifice bunt: gets it done but at a price. Fisher’s dry roasted salted-in-shell peanuts (a mouthful, $4.75) and Cracker Jack ($4.75) are the clutch hitters. For the mourners, you can see what remains of Shea Stadium via the windows at Caesar’s.
7. Roaming the outfield
Going stand to stand, concession to concession, you’ll get a clean hit with the Nathan’s foot-long hot dog ($6.50) or the basic “World Famous” frank ($4.75), and the familiar Mets‘ helmet cup of Carvel ice cream ($6; minus the helmet, in basic cup, $3.75). The hot chocolate ($3) is as watery as the infield tarp. From the deli stand, the roast beef sandwich ($9.50) gets to first. So does a slice of the just-cheese pizza ($5.75), in the Cascarino’s box. But the pepperoni slice ($6) fouls out.
8. Finding the sweet spot
It’s Mama’s of Corona, located in the World’s Fare Market. Very good cannoli ($3), in a crisp shell, with respectable cream and, yes, orange and blue sprinkles. What more do you want? They have a Mets park’s biggest hero since Todd Pratt, layered with cold cuts and mozzarella ($9.75). The limp black-and-white cookie is as out of place as a Phillies fan.
9. Switch hitters
World’s Fare Market sparks a rally with “Texas chili” ($4.75) that could evoke a memory of Nolan Ryan if it had enough heat. The drag-bunt chicken pot pie ($4.75) won’t ignite a rally and the pop-fly chicken quesadilla ($8.50) could kill one. Sushi from Great Neck’s Daruma of Tokyo ($9 to $14.50) smacks a few singles, led by the tuna-and-avocado roll.
10. In the stands
The steamy hot dog ($4.75) could revive the gashouse gang. The beer choices yesterday were Budweiser and Bud Light ($6). No “premium beer” ($6.75) was available. You could get peanuts and Cracker Jack (still $4.75).
11. Next homestand
Montauk mavens should be able to sample a lobster roll ($17) and Big Easy appetites a grilled shrimp po’ boy sandwich ($12.75). Also: Long Island clam-and-corn chowder ($4.75). And, for anyone who has enjoyed a game at the Giants park in San Francisco – garlic fries ($4.75).

Just got back from my basketball game.  We won by 24 points.  We should have won by even more, but we started fking around with 5 minutes left in the game.  We started doing alley-oops and shooting half court shots.  We haven’t had an easy game like this in awhile.  We did play the last place team (Faux Ballin 0-5), but we didn’t care who it was.  We just wanted to go out there and play our game.  We had a 2 week layoff since the last game so we were all huffing and puffing.  This is what happens when you drink 2-3 times a week and smoke a pack of cigs a week.  We are now 3-2 and the next game is in two days.  Thursday night’s game against Team 714 will a bit harder, but we shouldn’t have too much problems defeating them.

Got some videos to share with you and lets start with my girl Nat first

Song of the week: I Gotta Feeling by Black Eye Peas

Man, it’s only Wednesday tomorrow and I would really like to just sleep through my alarm clock and not worry about work.  Ha, don’t you wish you can do the same!!  Everyday around 3-4 in the afternoon, the clock seems to not move.  It’s been really hard for me to stay awake around that time of the day.  I usually go to the restroom 4-5 times between 3 to 6.  I don’t really pee everytime i go.  I usually just go to rinse my face and walk around the building so I can wake myself up.  I’m sure we’ll all get through the hump day just fine.  Lets just hope it’ll be a fast one.  I got a busy 5 days ahead of me and hopefully you have the same.  The weather forecast for the next few days actually looks decent so this never meant so much when I say ” Go out and enjoy the weather”.  Really, go out and enjoy it!!  I’m outz~

Back Order

Posted in Uncategorized on June 18, 2009 by aznjavi

I won’t receive my new iPhone until next week now.  It’s all on back order now and I shouldn’t have waited so long to purchase it on-line.  I just purchased it this morning on-line and the delivery date says June 23-June 27.  I guess it’s not a big deal.  Does anybody have a extra SIM card I can borrow for a week?  I have couple old cell phones at home, but non of them have a SIM card in them.  I must have taken them out at one point.  Let me know if one of you have a extra SIM card.  Thanks!!

It was great walking to work in the rain this morning.  The rain was coming down sideways (very windy) and my pants got completely soaked in a matter of few minutes.  Umbrellas are useless here at the Exchange Place.  I need to buy myself a rain coat.  Needless to say that I was pretty pissed off this morning.  With my pants and boxer wet (Not a good feeling when it’s moist down there) and i’m still freaken sick too.  I seriously might have the swine.  I can’t remember the last time I was sick for this long.  This month will probably go down as the wettest month in history.  This weather seriously disgusts me.  Living on the west coast sounds pretty good about now huh?  I think I might also have the  SAD syndrome.  Working inside the office for extensive amount of time can drive a man SAD.  I have issues and I may have to take it up with my shrink soon.

Sold!!

Posted in Uncategorized on June 16, 2009 by aznjavi

The final bidder purchased my iPhone for $321 on Ebay last night.  $321 is almost exactly the price I paid for it 7 months ago so I can’t ask for more.  I just suspended my AT&T account so I will not have access to a phone until Saturday.  The estimated delivery date says 6/19 so I will probably get the new phone on Saturday.  I don’t know how I will survive this next 3 days without a phone, but I’m sure I will manage.  I love Ebay and PayPal.  I’m going to start selling more items on Ebay going forward.  Ebay is a great tool to make some extra income on the side.  PayPal goes hand in hand with Ebay.  It’s the safest way to transfer money between the seller and the buyer.  I think I’m going to sell my PS3 and my computer LCD next.

Ebay It!!

Posted in Uncategorized on June 10, 2009 by aznjavi

So I’ve decided to sell my iPhone on Ebay tomorrow.  If you look on Ebay, you can see what people are selling the 3G 16GB iPhones for.  It’s selling from $300-400 on average.  AT&T is allowing existing customers to upgrade with a discounted price.  16GB goes for $399 and the 32GB goes for $499.  Not sure which one to get yet, but I will make up my mind after I sell my iPhone on Ebay.

Hoboken League Update:

We are now 2-2 after a thrilling win against Broken Bandits last night (48-47).  I knew all along if we just had a full squad each game, we’re almost unbeatable.  We started the season 0-2 due to being shorthanded in those games.  We only had 5 players for game one and 6 players for game 2.  We had a full squad the past two games and it resulted in victories.  4 games down and 4 more to go.  We will probably need to win 3 out of the final 4 games to make the playoffs.  Top 4 teams make playoffs.  Go RAMS!!!

BlackRock is about to purchase Barclays Investment division (BGI) for 12-14 billion dollars.  This is a humongous deal if/when it goes through.  This kind of stinks for me since I was looking forward to make an internal transfer to BGI in the future.  No worries though.  I’m sure Barclays will just start up another private investment subsidiary once BGI is sold.

I’m sick and hungry right now at work.  Not a good feeling.  I hope this afternoon will go by fast.  I need to rest.

The Battle Begins

Posted in Uncategorized on June 9, 2009 by aznjavi

The Palm Pre is finally out and the battle officially starts.  Apple also just announced the release date for the new iPhone 3G S today (June 19).  I’m assuming the S stands for ‘speed’ not like a car where it stands for ‘sports’…duh!!  Lets compare the differences between the two phones.

1. For the same price of a 16GB3G S ($199), you only get the 8GB Palm Pre.  Apple lowered the price of the 8GB3G from $199 to $99 to compete against the lower capacity Pre.  For $100 more, you can get the top notch iPhone 32GB3G S.  This is 4x more than the Pre.

2. The Pre offers a better deal with the data plan.  It’s 3G coverage is also about 3x more than AT&T.  AT&T did not change it’s contract format…which means Spring offers more for the buck (Voice & Text).

3. Both phones offers a 3 megapixel camera.  iPhone does not have a flash built in while the Pre does.  However, you can manually focus or use the  auto-focus function with the 3G S.  Probably the biggest edge the iPhone has over the Pre is the video recording capability with it’s camera (30 fps).  This means you can record and share your videos instantaneously on Youtube.

4. Both phones have the copy and paste function.  The 3G S has a buit-in digital compass along with voice control.

5. On the downside, the new iPhone still won’t have a removable battery.  Although they claim the battery life will last longer for the new 3G S, I won’t believe until I see it.  The Pre didn’t exactly get a good rating for it’s battery life test either.

6. There is also an essential advantage the 3G S has over the Pre.  It’s the App Store.  Apple packs over 50,000 apps in its store while Palm’s app catalog is still at it’s beginning stages with 12 apps available and a store in beta stage.

Besides the storage capacity and price differences, the buyer ultimately will need to consider whether they like the physical keyboard or the LED  flash on the phone….or they simply just want to keep Sprint’s flexible pricing data plans.  I own a 3G myself, but I am not bias in any standards.  I simply wrote what I read in the reviews today.  Happy pickings.

The New iPhone

Posted in Uncategorized on June 8, 2009 by aznjavi

I just took a first glance at the new iPhone and all I have to say is “Wow”!! I think I’m going to upgrade mine to this new one.  I’m pretty sick and tired of the battery life on the old iPhones.  I heard the new iPhone will have a better battery life.  I’m just hoping it won’t cost more than $300.  I’m going to sell my iPhone on Ebay and hopefully I can get couple hundred dollars for it.  This photo maybe photo-shopped so the new iPhone may not look like this at all.

iPhone3.0

Get ready, the new iPhone will be out on June 19.  Apple’s Worldwide Develpoers Conference just ended and here are some of the new features the new iPhone will have.

1. The new iPhone will look exactly the same.  It does not look like the picture shown above.  Although I wish it did.

2. The price will be $199 for 16GB and $299 for 32 GB with a new contract ($600 without a contract).  You can also get the old 8GB 3G for $99 starting today.

3. The built-in camera will have 3 megapixel along with autofocus.  It can also capture videos of 30 frames per second.

4. Voice control

5. A better battery life.  Up to 9 hours surfing with wifi, 30 hours of audio, 12 hours of 2G talk time.

I would love to get the new iPhone, but $600 is just not worth it.  I guess I’ll wait for the next generation…which will probably be out next year.  No doubt about it.

BonChon Chicken No More

Posted in Uncategorized on June 3, 2009 by aznjavi

Yes, you heard it correct.  No more BonChon chicken in K-Town (I know I’m slow)!!  Check out what the site had to say about the closing.  It’s now called Mad for Chicken.  I don’t know about you guys, but nothing beats BonChon chicken.  I’ve also read the reviews for Mad for Chicken and most of them said the chicken is not bad, but it had it’s own distinctive taste (Especially with their Soy Garlic Chicken).  This means the chicken really does taste different.  Jackie and Louis went there tonight so lets see what they thought of the chicken.

“We’d like to announce to our dearly customers that both Manhattan (314 5th ave 2fl) and Flushing (157-18 Northern Blvd.) branches are no longer serving Bon Chon Chicken. Since their menus are no more close to our unique sauces, please use other close Bon Chon Chicken branches.”

Very very sad story with the crash of Air France flight 447.  It appears non of the 228 people on board survived.  Searchers are now scrambling to recover the black boxes.  There are two black boxes on the plane and each black box emits signals up to 30 days.  With the Atlantic Ocean averaging 12,000 feet deep (2 miles), the search team will have a hard task ahead of them.  It’s another world underneath the ocean.  I’m saddened by this story, but at the same time I’m intrigued to find out what really had happened.  Hopefully the black boxes/pingers can reveal the cause of the accident.

I guess another big story is GM.  GM filed for bankruptcy yesterday for protection.  Analyst estimates about 20,000 GM employees will be let go within the few months.  That’s definitely not going to help the unemployment rates.  What’s worst is that all the shareholders probably won’t see a penny of what they have left.  GM claims that they are about 172 billion dollars in debt and they only have 82 billion dollars in assets.  The numbers just don’t add up.  Not even close.  I also spent the whole day yesterday updating our credit ratings for GM at work.  GM and it’s subsidiaries have about 300 accounts with Barclays Capital.  I pretty much had to upload all 300 accounts to our payment platform systems.  The information I manually updated in to our systems will allow it to screen/stop any GM related transactions.  Fun stuff.

BTW-Some Chinese motor company just bought out the Hummer brand today.  Expect to see a lot of Hummers roaming around China in the future.  It’ll be so weird to see.

NBA Final starts up this Thursday night at 9pm.  Lakers are pretty heavily favored for the series.  They are -260 favored (You have to put in $260 to win $100).  That’s pretty heavy in my opinion.  I have to give Orlando some props for man handling the Cavs.  The Cavs didn’t even come close.  I don’t think I will lay any $ on this finals series, but I kinda want to lay like $100 on Orlando for the heck of it.  I honestly feel they will make this series interesting.  I won’t be surprised to see a game 7.  Orlando is getting +240.  This means you will win $240 for laying $100.  Not bad for Orlando right?  Lakers are favored by 6 points in game one.  I would take Orlando with a 6 point teaser and the over 206.  Orlando will get 12 points and the game just have to go over 200 points.  Easy money.

Susan Boyle amazingly did not win in the show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.  She apparently took it pretty hard and had to check herself in to the hospital for exhaustion. All I gotta say is don’t worry Susan.  Record companies will come after you left and right.  You will make yourself some good money in the short-run.  Stop being so emotional and cheer up.  I wish I could be in your shoes…fine, not really…but you really do have a great voice.  Go make yourself couple records and before you know it, you might even become a millionaire.

Conan O’Brien took over The Tonight Show on Monday night. Jay Leno moved to prime-time slot at the 10. O’Brien will go up against Letterman now. I have always liked Letterman over Leno, but I’m not sure who to watch now. I think I will eventually watch more of Conan since I’ve been watching him more over the years. I just hope Conan doesn’t change his tune too much since they may require him to be tamer with a slight different audience as to the Late Show. Monday’s show got a pretty good start with a lot more good reviews. I think Conan will make ratings go through the roof for NBC and I’m pretty certain he will win a few Emmy along the way.  Go Conando.

This section below is to make up my lack of ‘hottie of the week’ in the past month or two.  Hope the guys can forgive me…haha

As we get closer to the opening day for Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen (June 24), we are starting to see more of Megan Fox.  Obviously Megan and Shia will be the two main promoters for the movie.  I’m just happy I’ve been seeing lots of Megan this past couple weeks.  Here are few pics of her from the MTV Music Awards.  She looks good in any outfit and with any hairdos.  She’s just simply HOT!!

3 more days left this week.  It already feels like the dog days of summer.  Each day seems to drag on forever at work.  All I do is daydream about  my upcoming vacations and what to do on the weekends.  I have so much planned for the next few months that it’s hard for me to concentrate at work.  I shouldn’t complain I know.  I should be greatful to have a job to keep that paycheck coming so I can go on my vacations.  Enjoy the rest of this week and your weekend.  I’m outz~

Cavs going down??

Posted in Uncategorized on May 28, 2009 by aznjavi

What is going on with the Cleveland Cavaliers?  They played lights out the first two rounds of the playoffs and now they have a hard time winning just one game against Orlando.  I sure hope the Cavs won’t lose at home tonight.  I made a bet with my buddy Joe on who will win this series.  Since Cleveland was favored, I had to give Joe a 5-1 odds.  We made it a $20 bet.   This means I win $20 from him if Cleveland wins the series.  Joe will win $100 from me if Orlando wins the series.  It kinda looks like he is about to win $100 from me.  Got my fingers crossed.  My boy Mo Williams will need to step up big time to help out LBJ tonight and the rest of the series.  The Lakers are in a good series against Denver.  Denver is hanging tough, but the home court advantage should carry Lakers through to the finals.

Just got back from San Francisco on Monday and it made me want to move there even more.  I was hanging out in San Jose and the weather there is so different from San Francisco.  San Jose is only about an hour drive east of SF and the temperature is 10-15 degrees warmer.  Blue sky at all times and comfortable warm breeze.  Non of that foggy, cloudy crap like in SF.  Very similar to SoCal weather.  Kat took me to Santana Row in San Jose and they had some fancy stores there.  Kat doesn’t really like Santana Row that much, but she took me there cuz the weather was nice and she just wanted to show me around.  We just walked around and had some appetizers at this outdoor Italian restaurant.  Kat never had risotto before so I ordered a dish of wild mushroom risotto for her to try.  It was ok.  Not the greatest.  Can’t wait to go back to SF again.  Most likely going back on July 10th.

So my Hoboken league team is now 0-2.  I was not at our last game, but we lost by 16 points.  At least we got the two toughest opponents out of the way.  The first team (Tequila Shooters) we played lost in the finals last season to RU Ballers.  RU ballers is the team that won by 16 points the last game.  Lets hope we can win our 3rd game next Tuesday night.

As most of you already know, I just became an U.S citizen couple weeks ago.  I don’t feel any different since I’ve already lived here for more than 20 years.  The citizenship really just simplifies my traveling obligations.  I no longer need a visa when I travel to China.  I still remember when I got bounced out of Hong Kong few years back when I landed there without a valid visa.  I felt like they were scared for my life or something.  They were like OMG!!  You are a Taiwanese citizen here on China grounds!!  Get the fk outta here NOW!!!  So I caught the next flight and got the fk out fast.  I obviously took my sweet time getting my U.S citizenship.  The main reason I finally got it was due to the fact that I couldn’t go back to Taiwan if I was not a U.S citizen.  I would have been drafted to the military if I went back there without a U.S passport.  If you are under 40 years of age, you are required to serve 1-2 years in the military.  I always think to myself, maybe it would have been a good thing if I went into the military for couple years.  I would have been jacked when I get out.

I also just became an uncle few days ago.  My brother and his wife just had their first child.  They named her Crystal.  I’m sure my parents are pretty thrilled too.  They are now grandparents for the first time.  They are going back to Taiwan in few weeks to visit their grand daughter.  I will probably go back to Taiwan in November now.  I haven’t been back in a LONG LONG time.  I’m excited just thinking about it.  I haven’t seen any of my relatives in such a long time too.  Can’t wait.

I would like to give a birthday shout out to our girl Nomad….aka Betty.  We’ll get her couple birthday shots tomorrow night fo sho.

happy-birthday

Back in action

Posted in Uncategorized on January 4, 2015 by aznjavi

I am back on this after a 6 year break!!  I have plenty of time on my hands now since I’m not working full time anymore.  I figured I might as well entertain myself and some of you out there with some useless writing.  Don’t expect an upgrade from my writing from 6 years ago.  I maybe 6 years older now but my brain still functions and thinks like an 18 year old.  My posts will be full of dumb and useless information so please keep that in mind 🙂

Happy New Year to everyone.  I can’t believe 2015 has arrived.  We have arrived to the year Marty McFly was sent to in ‘Back to the Future 2′.  I thought the movie had few interesting predictions and it turns out few things were predicted correctly while a few were incorrect predicted.  It correctly predicted flat screen televisions, biometrics and 3-D technology.  While it incorrectly predicted flying cars, self-lacing shoes/double tie and the use of fax machines and phone booths.  I will make a prediction that Back to the Future IV will be in a theater near you within the next 3 years.  “Nobody calls me chicken, Needles!”

Some of you know I’m a big fan of the show Celebrity Apprentice.  Well, season 14 starts tonight.  Few of the celebrities on this season are Kevin Jonas, Shawn Johnson, Ian Ziering, Terrell Owens, Geraldo Rivera, Gilbert Gottfried, Johnny Damon, Leeza Gibbons and Vivica A. Fox.  I’m looking forward to see what Terrell Owens can do.  I’m going to guess either Geraldo Rivera or Kevin Jonas wins this season.  Another one of my favorite show I just caught up on is American Horror Story Freak Show.  I just love everything about the American Horror Story series.  I guess I’m kinda twisted so that’s why I love the creepy characters and the dark imagery of the show.  I hope FX keeps the show running for seasons to come.

This is absolutely the best time of the year if you’re a sports fanatic like myself.  You got the NFL playoffs, NBA, and college basketball all just starting up.  Can the Cowboys do it this year?  I say no.  I like the Packers chances if Aaron Rodgers is healthy enough.  I won’t count out Peyton Manning of course, but I just have that hunch it’s the year of the Packers.  It’s still a little too early to say who’ll come out on top in the NBA.  The west looks mighty strong while King James and his wounded Cavaliers looking like a team without any chemistry.  The Bulls and Raptors are clearly the top two teams on the east while the Warriors, Trail Blazers, Houston, Clippers and the Spurs all have the potential to win the west.  The western division is definitely more fun to watch than the eastern division.  College basketball is about to enter conference play and next thing you know it’ll be March Madness time. Kentucky Wildcats are the overwhelming favorites to win the championship this season.  I can see few teams able to pull the upset if/when they get that opportunity in the NCAA tourney.  Duke and Louisville looking very strong this season so far.  Duke has the best player in the country with Jahlil Oakfor and also the youngest of the Plumlee brothers.  Scouts are saying Marshall is the best Plumlee out of all of them.  I can see this years’ Duke team going all the way.  Louisville already lost to Kentucky last week so they’ll want revenge if they were to meet again in the tourney.  Louisville in my opinion has not even played their best ball yet so I think they’ll be hard to beat once they start clicking on offense more.

Enough writing for this post. I will try to blog once a week going forward.  Goodnight!!
